Traditional Okinawan Karate
A WAY OF LIFE
Traditionally, in Okinawa, karate was more than a spare time activity left behind at the academy door. It touched the very essence of the people who studied it, changing the way they thought, the way they felt about themselves, the way they interacted with other people, and in fact, deeply permeated their lives. Much of that has been lost. In modern America, karate has become a sport rather than an art; its influence is the same as any other athletic endeavor. It has lost everything but its physical facets.
It’s not just for athletes because it’s more than a sport.
It is instead a well rounded martial art, encompassing studies that many more modern styles consider old fashioned or irrelevant. With a return to the old way of thinking, however, these studies are relevant, for this is what elevates UchiTeRyu to an art, a way of life, and thus, the ultimate in self-defense.
Look at what UchiTeRyu has to offer:
Tuite (Grab-Hand) Techniques
Kyushu Jitsu (Vital Point) Technique
Students will learn how to control an opponent with a minimum of injury to the attacker.
